This is seperate from the regular comments and critiques I randomly do in Artisan Crafts because it focuses mainly on things I know really really really well enough to feel confident enough to give advice on. I handle critiques in a professional way: for writing I go through the whole piece and give you examples on how to correct things, etc. I can also give references and stuff if I find any.
There are also others who can do other critiques, so be sure to check it out.
In gallery news, today in the meeting, we discussed some major gallery changes, as I've highlighted in a poll. I've reopened Misc and as stated in a previous journal it's been plagued with lazy people/miscats and I can tell that this is not going to change. I am talking it over with other admins, but in the future we might see Misc. disappear altogether. This way people will be 'forced' to find the correct gallery for their stuff, instead of just sticking it anywhere.
Also, with Misc gone, I am proposing two new categories for Costume Components/Props which may include latex masks/components, vaccuuform, cardboard, paper mache, etc. Also I am toying with the idea of a book binding category, but that is a big MAYBE because in most instances I've seen of submissions, they can fit into other categories (i.e. leather bound book, Leatherworking, fabric covered book, Textiles) and I also do not want to open up a category that will just invite more miscats. Unfortunately I cannot be heavily specific when it comes to categories, its rather unfair to keep up a gallery with two submissions in it.
And with that, I am also thinking of moving Origami out of AC because AC is very 'utilitarian' and origami is...well...not.
I'd love to hear your feedback on this so please participate in the poll.
Also, these meetings are open so you can have your concerns met. I will expand my mailing list for these meetings soon. Please get the word out that they exist. I cannot respond to your concerns if they arent voiced or worse, I have to hunt for them in some obscure corner of dA.
And as promised, the subscription door prize went to =wolfsax and :devxexica:, yes two, because they were the only ones who came who didn't have a sub
Also, I will be sending out notices (on this expanded mailing list) for the critique night on the 30th of September.
And lastly, some of you have been banned from #artisancrafts, please note that I do this because chat rules/dA rules have been broken or due to general disrespect. These are month long bans. I provide this chat as a forum to have concerns met, and expect them to be voiced in a mature respectible manner. Yelling at me or being bitchy doesn't work with me, and will get you banned as a warning. After that if it continues I will turn you over to the chat admins. I want this AC community to be strong and that will not happen if people are rude.
I await your feedback.

Ok the current Halloween Costume Contest is on and I can't wait to see entries...[link]
But let's see you in your halloween costumes as a kid! Find a photo, scan it in, and note it to me for this project! Anyone can enter, no prizes however.
Also, I am running a Pumpkin Carving Contest. Find a pumpkin, carve it with an ORIGINAL DESIGN (aka no pre-made pumpkin master's patterns etc) and submit it to CULINARY ARTS and note me the entry by October 30. You can be as creative as you want with it, it just has to include a carved pumpkin (no funkins). The winner gets a year sub!
Also, more goodies!

Making fun of the powerful is Bravery, because they can make you pay for what you say. This is why Satire is the weapon of the Clever Courageous. Making fun of someone weaker than you are, that is merely Cowardice.
